Oliver chose Australia out of the atlas. We looked at books and photos. We found it interesting that the seasons are opposite to ours.
October 2023
We have our project topic.
We will travel around the world.
We have made a list of 16 or more places we would like to go. Today we made suitcases. We will be making passports, clothes and postcards for each place we visit. Our first stop will be Belize. We will learn about the weather, the people and geography of each country we visit.
On Friday afternoons we will set up the room like an airplane including the tray tables for a snack as we fly to our location. We will learn about the location and if one of us has been there before they can share stories and photos of their experience. We can learn from each other.

We had a great time flying to Belize. First we had our ticket and passport checked before boarding the plane. Our suitcases were put in storage. We took our seats and the saftey demonstration began. The in flight movie began and snack was served.
After our flight we went to customs and had our passport stamped. Some children tried on their vacation clothing and others madr postcards. Some decided to take another flight but didn't say where.
Where will we go next?

Yellowknife
We drew Canada from the bag of locations. E closed his eyes and pointed to Yellowknife on our map. The children made things like mittens, gloves, toques and parkas. We learned about the weather in Yellowknife. Did you know it is the coldest city in Canada? They also can see the Northern Lights for more than 200 nights a year.

France
This week we travelled around France, we took the train. The children made Macarons and coloured pictures of monuments. They looked at pictures of places Susanne went on her trip like the Eiffel Tower, Ache de Triumph, Pantheon and the Louver. The room was set up like a second class train car. We watched a video of the route from Paris to Arras.

Winnipeg
S took us on a trip to Winnipeg. She shared photos of her trip and told us about the weather. She explained about the places she visited and the family in the photos. The photo of the polar bear sparked a discussion about how it ended up in the zoo/rescue centre. C related it to the whales at Marine Land. The children realized wild animals want to stay in the wild. We also discussed the Metis Nation since there is a large community in Manitoba. Coincidence November 16th is Luis Riel day. We listened to fiddle music, used Metis dolls and played the spoons. The children tried pointillism art to represent dead work.

We went to Jamaica this week. Our college student is from Jamaica so she shared some photos and information. We also played some games too.
This week we learned about Malta. Susanne shared some of her photos. We learned about how they love cats so much they have houses for them everywhere.
We did not fly this week. Friday was a rough day. Almost everyone left their good behavior and manners at home so the flight was cancelled.
