We saw a lot of wonderful creatures this week. It is rare to see a raccoon during the day. Praying Mantis are very good at camouflage. The milk weed pods are bursting and we are making wished on the fluff. There have been a lot of wished for S's new baby. We also found a dead bird. The children were curious. How do you know it's dead? How did it die? Written by S Robitaille.

We all wore our orange shirts. We read 'Phyllis' Orange Shirt' and some other Indigenous children's stories. We watched a video 'Stolen Words'. The children were concerned when Phyllis' shirt was taken away and that she had to stay at school until the summer. We talked about how all the Residential (sleepover) Schools are closed so they will never have to go there and neither will the Indigenous children. They also noticed Phyllis took a bath in a bucket. I explained it was because they had to heat the water on the stove and it's too far to carry to the washroom. I'm sure we will have many more discussions as it settles in.
Written by S Robitaille. Susanne was wearing a shirt with a painting on it. Who is on your shirt? It's a painting by Maxine Noel called Mother Earth. What do you think Mother Earth looks like? Like your shirt. That's what Maxine thinks, what do you think? Written by S Robitaille.
ER was balancing a stick on his shoulder. He was able to walk around the camp without it falling. Susanne put a mat on her head and did the same. Then M tried a bucket on his head. Then M tried more items on his head. ES then practiced balancing on a log. We have been talking about things being stable. When the children build with wooden blocks, building sticks or Lego we work on making it stable.
