We did some different things this week. The children wanted to learn about chemicals. Why? Who knows?
I had vinegar, baking soda, alka seltzer, flour, water and bleach. We looked for the safety warning labels on the bleach. We did not open the bottle. I showed the test strips for the beach and water spray bottles. Susanne sprayed on the test strip to show how strong it is. We discussed that it is for grown up use only. We took turns mixing different things together to see if we could get a reaction. Some thins worked and others did not. Written by S Robitaille.

Today we went for a small hike. The trail was very mucky but we were prepared. We stopped at the senior camp. We were practising our balance. The most fun thing was when Susanne wiggled the log and we pretended to fall off.
As we returned to the centre we saw a bus on a tow truck. Some silly boys during trail mix snack. They decided it was hilarious to stick their cheerios to their faces. What a bunch of goof balls.
Today the children were busy gathering pieces for their christmas present for the family. ER suggested we make something out of wood. While we were gathering, suddenly it began to rain. We were not prepared. Roxane put up a tarp and they played in the fort until it stopped.
After they pulled out their magnify glasses, fairy dolls and fishing rods. Yesterday when the fishing lines would tangle Susanne would help pull them apart. Today they added more to the tangle. Susanne said they had to detangle it themselves. ER stepped up to do the job. They worked together for a long while trying to get it apart. Eventually it had to be cut. It was a good effort. 1. What can you build with 4 cubes, 2 popcycle sticks, 2 pieces of card stock and 2 cups? 2. How tall can you make your creation? They all made many random things including airplanes during the first challenge. They were more focused during the second. M & ES had the tallest for a while, then EF was close. ER then made the suggestion for her to re-arrange the cups. EF was now the tallest. ES was the first to congraulate her friend. Written by S Robitaille. Wonderful creatures everywhere. We saw the hawk having breakfast this morning. We are not sure what it was eating but when it was tossed about, we saw it had 4 legs
In the afternoon we found a praying mantis. It was sitting in the grass. The children almost landed on it while playing. Since they were all pretending to be animals this week I thought maybe they would like to hang out with their favorite animal.
Here are some silly pictures. This week the children have been pretending to be different animals. These animals have all enjoyed sleeping on the rocks beside the playground. Some are sloths others are lizzards.
We have also played a shark game. Susanne is the shark swimming in the ocean. When the children go swimming the shark is to catch them and eat them. You never know what the will come up with next. Written by S Robitaille. On friday oct. 29th we werr in a fun mood. Susanne put on some kid friendly halloween music. It became a dance party. Some chose to continue with the activity they were doing. Others dropped everything to dance. And dance they did. They have moves! Time warp came on and I tried to show them the dance moves. They had fun following along. Then Thriller came on so I tried to remember the moves. I found a dance instructor teaching the dance (no make up or costumes) ES & M tried to follow the instructions. Very cute. Written by S Robitaille.
