Valentine's day was more like three days. One day we worked together to share our thoughts about how we are loved. We used these thoughts and put them together to make a valentine poem. Susanne had a cut out card for the poem but it was too big. Susanne printed it out instead. The next day the children shared thoughts on what to put inside the card. Then they wrote out the sentences on the card. Then coloured it in.
On Valentine's day the children decorated a bag to hold all their cards. After lunch they waited patiently while everyone took turns handing out the cards. Then they sat at their table to see what they received. There were decorations on the tables all day. We were full of love. We also had a Lego challenge. Can you make a hart shape? The children did a great job. (Some with help).

Jackson Pollock is a well known abstract artist. He mostly does splatter paintings. I'm sure he has a little more intention than us but the results are similar. Even though it was cold and windy, the forest was beautiful. We didn't see any birds we heard a few chickadees. Chick- a- dee- dee- dee.
ER marked the safe zone on the look out. We noticed carvings on a log. On the way back there was some belly tobogganing. This week is the backyard bird count. We counted 20 birds on wednesday. On thursday we were having no luck so, we went to the lake. We saw aproximately 100 wayer birds. We also saw the biggest fish ever! The head was as big as Susanne's boot. We went for a hike around campus this week. We visited the chicken of the woods and found something interesting. There were red dresses hanging in some of the trees. The first one we saw was in the Indigenous healing garden. We discussed that the dress was there to remind us of the missing Indigenous women and children. The dress is also to remind us to keep looking. The Red Dress program is a very heavy topic of discussion. We keep it light by focussing on finding people. Here are the pictures of what we saw. If you have any question about MMIWG2S please feel free to email me. I will do my best to answer your questions.
We are continuing our art exploration. Today we are doing our own version of Mustard on white, 1963 by Roy Lichtenstein. The girls used the book to create their own favorites.
