The children often want to explore the trails along the dirt road. Today we left the wagon behind and loaded up the backpacks. We began our journey at the first enterance by the Theal house. We found a bunch of trees we know the names of. Beech, red oak, maple and walnut. As we walked each child had a turn to lead the group. They also were able to choose which trails we took. We found a bridge that takes us off campus. We went to the limit and returned. We found the lake lookout. We continued to the entrance to the lake but chose to take a different route. We went through a pine forest and found a broken car. Now we have a million questions and ideas how the car got there. Mostly it crashed and got stuck. How do you think it got there? Leave your theory in the comments below. As we continued we found our camp. The children were excited to see it but didn't want to stop. "It looks bigger."-J We continued over logs, around puddles and over boulders. We stopped at a bog to guess who lives there when we noticed something looking back at us. A deer was on the other side. We were very quiet and watched for a long time. The deer was not afraid of us. It slowly walked away and we continued. Once we reached the dirt road we realized the deer had been following us. It walked out of the woods crossed the road and continued on the orher side with out us. It did have a sister following her.

What a fantastic forest adventure! Ellia was very eager to tell us about the hike today, especially when we looked at the photos. The car is an exciting find. We suggested to her maybe the car was broken and somebody decided to dump it there. What an awesome experience to see the deer so close. It is wonderful to hear and see all about the exploring the children are doing. We so appreciate the photos and stories!

We heard a lot about yesterday! The deer was such a hit! Could the forest have grown around the car? Could it have been an experiment? What a mystery! Thank you for the beautiful pictures. Shandor was a happy boy yesterday.
