On tuesday we made tiny book. The children had to follow instructions on how to fold and cut the paper to make the book. Then they made a cover. Once they were finished they filled the book in with pictures and words. Today we made flip books. They wanted to make the person dance. T wanted his person's booty to shake. Some children didn't want to share their flip book. They went right into their pocket and stayed there.

Shhhh We can see a family. There is a baby. Quiet. Don't scare them. We don't want them to run away and leave the baby behind. We saw another snake!!!
C found a birds wing. Yuck. It was a great day. The wind tried to blow away a hat or two. B found the ants were no longer in danger because the water had receded. We had a great day. The weather was perfect. A warm sunny day, not too hot. We went to the lake to show our 2 guests D & C. We tried to rescue some ants that were swimming in the lake. They had found a stick to clung on to. B added some more sticks to make a bridge to dry land. We saw a snake on the island. Later we went to camp and did some painting of sticks. We are going to make a wind chime. âOn our was back we saw a bluejay and 3 deer cross our path. We went to a new location. We went to the big hill in the forest. But first we stopped by the lake lookout and saw the pollution. We also stopped at the soccer field to play Mr. Wolf.
The hill is very steep with rocks and plants on it. Susanne set up some flags to show where the boundries were. The were 2 forts. We could only go in one because there were rubber gloves in the other. We needed to be safe from germs and possible sharp items like glass. Can you throw the ball over the tree branch? I can. Me too. I'll watch and see if you can do it. My turn. My turn. Can you do it like this? Yah. We have some caterpillars in our classroom. So far they are living in a cup. They have some food to eat and they are beginning to make their chrysalis. We have a special mesh box to put them in once they are all in their chrysalis'. More photos and story to come We now have 4 butterflies. We searched online to find out what type of butterfly we have. We found out they are Painted Lady type. We will let they go on friday. Today is the last day for our butterfly friends to live in our room. We are letting they go this afternoon. We will be sad to see them leave. We will be happy they have their freedom. A bitter sweet moment. We have learned so much from these visitors. We have read books and made books. We looked at the life cycle and found eggs in the forest. The hunt for critters started on the trail.
Since our hands keep drying out the salamanders we decided to put damp soil in our dishes. We found a great spot ti dig. J found a nice spot to rest on a tree. The blocks were very popular today. N and H found moss to add as a carpet. The mats were used as a moat. The hunt continued for salamanders. Then back to the castle. It was a very busy day. Looking for creatures.
First there were worms snails and slugs. At camp the hunt began. Where are the salamanders? Every rock and rotting piece of wood were over turned. A few were found. There is always someone who is disappointed. Q found a millipede. B was checking the bridge. The may apple patch was empty. Time for a climb and a closer look into a tiny tunnel. The mats were a great building tool even if they ended up as a recliner. As we left the forest we saw a turkey in the distance. |
