We went on an adventure. We began at the Wigwam where we had a drink of water. Then we saw the firepit. We found a secret staircase that lead to the forest. As we followed the trail we found a man sitting under a tree ( sit spot ). We were respectful and stayed quiet until we were a little bit away. We know it is best to be quiet during sit spot time so you can here the creatures around you. We followed the trail along the cliff until we found a fort. It was different from ours. It had windows. We played for a bit then climbed a steep hill heading to our camp. It was a fun adventure.

We went on an adventure. We began at the lake. The inlet we call rock island. The island changes size often because the lake is damned on both ends. The lake feeds the hydro power station on the escarpment. Next we followed a different trail. Each child had a turn leading the group. Every time we see a trail marker ( white rectangle ) we stop and make sure we have everyone. We ended up at the camp from last year. There were a few exciting things on the way. We used tools. Everyone sat on a mat while we looked at all the tools in the toolbox. Susanne showed us how each yool works. Then we tried them. We found a stick and whittled with a vegetable peeler. Once we were ready we used a chisle and sand paper to smooth it out. Next we cut off the end with a hand saw. Written by S Robitaille.
Today was an artsy kind of day. The children wanted to make skeletons. Susanne had a blob painting planned so we did both.
Our first rainy day in the forest. It was a great success. The children might not think so. It was just a drizzle when we arrived. We had our rainsuits on to be prepared. Susanne put up a tarp in a lean-to style. So many question why. When the rain came they knew why. It was funny how normally they would venture all over the camp but today they hovered around the tarp. When the rain came so did the complaints. It's raining. I want to go inside. My hands are cold. Can we go? Why not? After a few minutes they got used to the weather and realized they were not wet or cold. They started to play again. We did start to pack up a little early and they were disapointed when I took the tarp down. By the time we were ready to laeve the rain had stopped. They realized it was okay. This wee we found two dead toads, one on thursday and the other on friday. The children were very concerned about how the toads died. The were a few theories, run over by a truck, stepped on, or caught by the hawk. They were facinated by the guts behind the first one. They saw a little something coming out of the leg of the second. On friday the first toad was gone. It created more questions on where it went? Eaten by another animal? Who would eat it? Hopped away? The rain washed it away? Fridays toad, what happened? Was it eating when it died? Are the ants on it eating it? It must be a truck, I see tracks. The positions of the bodies created ideas. Is it resting? What was it looking at? Why is it laying that way? Looks like it is posing for a picture. So much inquiry. We don't need to answer the question. Let them figure it out. There are no wrong answers when creating theories or sharing ideas Written by S Robitaille.
At the new location there is a tree for climbing. They all wanted a turn or two. B noticed how high he was. Susanne said he was as tall as Daddy. She asked how everything looked from up there? B said everyone looked small. H also had the same thoughts. N stopped part way up to pose like a ballerina. While in the tree T and H noticed a liquid flowing out of the bark. With a few clues and a lot of guessing they figured out it is sap. The hole in the tree was also interesting. Q wanted to know what was in there. He asked for a picture then we used a flashlight. What do you think is inside the tree?
Written by S Robitaille. We have changed our focus a little. Instead of traveling as pirates now we can fly.
The thoughts of travel bring dreams, planning and happiness to all of us. The children are building different types of flying machines. Some carry passengers others cargo. Airports are being build. Planes are flying and landing all over the room. Where will they go? When will they return? What will they take with them? Written by S Robitaille. We werr being silly the other day. Our friend F was picking a sticker for her blog photos. When the others noticed and wanted to also add stickers. This is what the children chose.
